"腦死亡"病人複蘇，嚇壞醫生

21歲的大學生Sam Schmid 因車禍重傷入院，一度被醫生確定腦死亡並開始準備作為器官捐獻者。就在準備撤除他維生設備的前幾個小時，他忽然有了反應。今天他已經能在助步器的支撐下行走，並能講話。醫生認為他可以完全恢複。

他的醫生，一位著名的神經外科醫生Spetzler，在病人多日無反應的情況下，根據大腦MRI影像特征沒有放棄維生設備，但一度感覺希望渺茫，認為他的恢複真是奇跡。他說："I am dumb-founded with his incredible recovery in such a short time。 His recovery was really remarkable considering the extent of his lethal injuries." "There are so many things we don't understand about the brain and what happens at the time someone is near death."
