how old is the house

this looks like a 40-50 year old neighborhood. It may be PVC main drain outside, it also could be clay drain.

In any event, I see roots but not dirt, that means the pipe has crack but has not collapsed yet.

If this comes back to you in a few years, you need to dig up the front yard to replace the broken pipe.
