I was on a research tour with one fellow professor in a rural area. He is a real coffee drinker. He drinks coffee all morning and drinks water all afternoon hoping to wash the coffee residuals off the system.
Since we were driving in rural area that morning, he will not miss any chance to order coffee at fast food restaurants encountered on the way. That was the third coffee-ordering stop already. He pulled the car up to the ordering point and spoke to the intercom “A coffee with sugar and cream, nothing else.”
In order to lighten up the environment, I joked to him “What else do you still want with your coffee?”
Apparently, he did not understand my joke and showed a stone face to me.
Of cause, I did not say the next sentence “Want to add salt and black pepper to your coffee?”
