One day, when Lincohn was a lawyer in Illinois, he was the defense lawyer for a defendant in court.
The plaintiff lawyer talked a very simply argument back and forth for more than two hours. The audience was really tired of it.
Lincohn finally got his turn, and he went to podium. He first took off coat and put it on the desk. Then he took a glass of water and had a couple of sips. Next, he put on the coat, and then drunk some water, and then took off coat… Lincohn repeated those things 5 or 6 times. It amused the audience so much that caused a big laugh.
Lincon remained calm and started his talk after the laugh stopped.
