Filing I-140 and I-485 concurrently on yourself at least enables you to stay here legally even if you don't expect your petition will be approved. It's just
a way of buying time, so you have time to take other
options.

Even if you get lucky and find a good lawyer, it
is better you become an educated client because any
lawyers will care more about making money than your
case. If you are not educated enough to be able ask your lawyer the right questions and don't push them,
your precious time will be wasted by your lawyer.

4) Try to find an employer that can help you start PERM soon. At the same time, try to find a good lawyer.
Good lawyers make big difference though it is hard
to find a good one. Maybe big law firms are better
choices since they have started to study the PERM for
a while.

I don't know your background. Some of my suggestions
may not work for you.
