Thank you for pinpointing the discretion criterion. I guess I won't try pursuing PhD anyway. Just getting degree after degree is not my definition of a life. Anyway I have seen on this board quite several weird cases now. I don't know whether others ever consider file a complaint. This is just a past-tense now. Good to see your inputs anyway.
