It is fine to live within US, but the problem is that the child needs to get the B2 visa to enter US and sometimes he/she may not get it. Of course, just try and if you are lucky, the child may get the B2 visa to enter US to live with you. By the way, adoption for green card is a little complicate process, so you had better consult an immigrant lawyer.
