我同學的綠卡在2012年過期了， 沒有去延期。 人在上海，女兒是美國出生的21歲。 今天去簽證被拒，被簽證官告知有兩個選擇：1）延期綠卡 2）放棄綠卡。 因為考慮到以後可能要來美國和女兒一起生活, 她想做延期。 請教8老師的問題是：
1）如果辦理綠卡延期， 如何辦理？ 因為已經過期5年了，綠卡也弄丟了，
-How long has she been China continuously? If it is more than one year (i.e. she has never returned to US within one year), then her green card has been void, and thus she cannot extend this green card. Therefore, she needs to abandon her green card in this case and then, apply for B2 visa to enter US.
2） 延期去哪裏申請（從國內寄還是美國本土寄）？填啥表格, 需要多久能批？是否有延期被拒的可能？-If her green card is still valid (see my above explanation), then she needs to get the transportation letter from the US Consulate to travel to US, then file I-90 to renew the green card. She cannot renew her green card outside US.
3） 如果延期需要擔保， 女兒現在讀大學，可以擔保嗎？-No 擔保 is needed for green card renewal.
4) 辦理綠卡延期是在上海等綠卡嗎？
5） 辦理綠卡延期能推遲些才辦理嗎？ 因為想著一旦拿到綠卡了就得每年來美國待半年，家裏還有母親要照顧。
