兒子改名字的問題

本人兩年前規劃美國公民，兒子還未辦美國公民和美國護照，現已超過18歲， 想改個名字， 不知實否得通過file N-600取得公民紙才能改名字？ 各位有這種相似的經驗嗎？ 多謝！
