Teacher 8, and all teachers, a question regarding using AP and E

I got my AP and EAD combo card. Now I am planning to go back to China.

1. I heard the news regarding user of new version of AP and EAD card got denied at Beijing International Airport. Did anybody use the new card to go China recently?

2. Since the AP and EAD are on the same card now, does that mean using AP automatically activate the EAD as well? I have the H1B now. If so, can I still use my H1B after I come back, and how?
