Dear 863211, This is my second time H1B extension after 6 years stay. The lawyer said she has all the paper ready but has to wait until we got approved from department of labor. She told me that the labor condition application was submited to DOL but we did not have an answer yet.
Why takes so long? The time is so tight now. Last time the extension is faster and I saw the form:"Electronic filing of labor condition application for H1B nonimgrant visa program".
Is that normal?
-No. It normally takes abot 10 days to 2 weeks for the LCA approval. The lawyer should have filed the LCA online as DOL requires.

Paper-filing may take longer time to be approved and it only applys to "Employers with physical disabilities that prohibit them from filing electronic applications may submit a written request to file their labor condition applications by U.S. Mail".
Ask your lawyer to contact DOL to check the LCA applicaiton status and see what happened
