I got the same issue many years ago as you do (make mistake on the expired date of AP) when I went through Canada-US board, US board stopped me and I spent a week to explain them. Finally they let me in USA, and I got greencard after. However, my that record had been kept in their computer since then and it made me stopped by them each time when I came back from a trip outside USA till I got citizenship. Better way is to explain them and let them get you in USA. Maybe get a new AP is another way. My knowledge (CBP officers said that to me), during application if you leave USA without AP, means you gave up your application. Goo luck.
I got the same issue before
