Once you submit I485, you can apply for EAD which allow you switch employer.
On the other hand, after your I485 is pending for 180 days, you can also switch employer.
My question is: why don't most people apply for EAD after submitting I485? I don't hear many people doing this. Is it because most employer will not help you apply for EAD knowing that you may switch employer?
If your I485 is pending for 180 days and you get laid off, you need to find a similar job within a short period of time (1-2 months is typically mentioned) in order that your I485 will not become invalid. Is it the same case if you got EAD?
What are the advantage/disadvantage of getting EAD when you submit I485? I guess that in current environment there is an advantage with getting EAD in that you can swtich employer if you get laid off before your I485 is pending for 180 days.
Thanks a lot.
