My experience is to build a strong resume first for Chinese students. Everything will be easy later.
NIW - good research resutls and experiences is the key to NIW. You do not need to search far-reaching excuese (or connection to NI).
EB1-A/B - you can start when you meet each requirement to the minimum.
Last but the most important - find strong recommendations through your academic connections. The endorsements from big guys say it all! Typical they ask you to provide the draft.
Steps of writing recommendations:
1. Summarize & itemize your achievements in two pages.
2. Find one sample letter: Put 1-2/or 2-3 major achievements in each of the recommendation in the body and project your future based on these.
3. Repeat Step-2 6X
Key: you are providing witness proof to your achievements. You do not want one person to cover all, which makes it skeptical. Some of them know you more than other. All documents are law documents and you want to use plain words.
This is my experience and hope it can help.
