In fact I used the "slice and dice" technique while preparing for my EB1b application by focusing on one or two topics of my research in each recommandation letter. A good grasp of English can help you work toward your own success in both professional and private life. But it is hard for most Chinese professionals to improve their English skills while tackling tough research problems. Finding a ballance between the two is easier said than done. And it takes time. "Mind-switch" or "downloadable skills" is fiction than fact.
