called consulate processing (CP). Yes, after your immigration petition got approved (I140/I130,etc), you can have two choices. One is to adjust your status into immigrant status inside U.S (I485), the other one is CP.
But you made one thing wrong. For CP, you don't have to stay in China. You can wait here for your turn. They will notify you when to go to Guangzhou for interview. They will issue you an immigration visa upon approval. My friend did that. They flew back to China and after they came back, they are PRs.
