My experience: We filed 485. Went back to china using AP. I-94 said AOS. I extend my H1 after 6 years. But my hu*****and's H4 was denied. In the letter it said he can go to the nearest port of entry to get H4 again. I called the airport, they don't do it. I think he could go to the USCIS local office to get H4.
