If your job title is higher than research associate,

such as assistant research scientist or higher, you should be ok to ask a letter from your department to show that you are scientist now which will be considered as permnant job. As for your salary etc., you should be able to get a letter from university HR, their will help you do it. I guess you did NOT hire a lawyer, right?
