SOS: H1 轉 F1 --- I am going crazy now

I ted application for changing H1B to F1. Received the letter
yestereday:

Notice to Student

The attached I-20 is returned to notify you that you have
been granted nonimmigrant status or other related benefit
based on your I-20. The stamp on the I-20 indicates the
date and place you were admitted or otherwise granted
status as well as the duration of stay allowed.

This I-20 is for your records. You must comply with all
the terms and conditions of the nonimmigrant status.


在 I-20 上， 有一個 Stamp, "Approved Sep 08 2006".
還有一個 "NOTE: YOU MUST OBTAIN A NEW VISA TO REENTER
THIS COUNTRY IN YOUR PRESENT STATUS"

I-20 上還有 "RECLASSIFIED TO F1 AND STAY AUTHORIZED TO D/S
SSC 0009"

我的問題是

1） 我現在是什麽身份？ F1 還是 H1
call 了CIS， 兩個不同的人給我不同的解釋， 一個說我現在
是 F1， 但是 school does not start until Jan 2007， 所以
我必須離境， 申請簽證再進來， 或者去學校
另一個人告訴我我的 F1 won't be effective until Jan 2007
我現在還是 H1B

2） 現在到底可以做什麽？ 還能工作麽？
沒有辦法和批件的人聯係上， 他們讓我寫信去問， 那得等到
什麽時候呀？
