go check go check i485 thread at www.immigrationportal.com. you will also see guys got approval within 2 months. some cases ted in june,06 were approved. unfortunately, there case were all from non-retrogression countries. uscis director aguirre had promised to achieve six-month cycle times by the end of fiscal year 2006 (http://www.gofindlaw.com/2004,0622-backlogfsht.pdf)
i believe they can achieve this target by setting up the cut-off date since the work load can be significantly lower than before.
although higher level security checks for chinese is a factor, i think uscis may try to control china visa numbers. only at the end of the fiscal 2006, these cases may have chance to be approved. i believer some people from china can get their gc within three months after they sumbit 485 in the near future
