very similar to your case. I got I-140 approved, I-485 pending, didn't file 485-based EAD.My lawyer initially told me it would be no problem. So I filed OPT on April 10th and finished my thesis defense on May 3rd. Recently, however, my future employer's in-house lawyer expressed her concern on if I could get OPT approved or not. Now my lawyer also has the similar expression. Now I have no choice but to wait since I already waited for two months. I will take the chance. Hopefully I can get it approved as other people did. But in your case, it would be much safer if you file 485-based EAD, rather than OPT-based EAD
