F2A PD is around 2001/2002, that is all those who filed I-130 in 2001 (and maybe erarly 2002) now can file I-485, their I-130 doesn't need to be approved at the time of I-485 filing. So in 5 (or 4) years, your spouse can file I-485 (if in US) based on this approved or pending I-130.
I-130 has always being allowed to file concurrently with I-485 IF THE VISA NUMBER IS AVAILABLE (or PD current) And since mid 2003, I140 can also be filed with I-485 concurently with current PD.

You can not file 485 (and EAD, AP) before your PD is current.
