Thanks!
But I really need my parennts to stay in the US for a year, I really do not want to hurt their record by extending their stay. I thought that having two trips might be at least better than extending their stay. For example, next time when my parents apply for their visa through Zhong1 Xin4 bank, their I-156 form will show that "the most recent stay lasts for 5 months" instead of "the most recent stay lasts for 11 months". (By the way, I-156 form does not ask for how long the previous stays last, although the passport has the record.) This time, when my parents applied for their visa, they asked for 5 month of stay. If they do return in 5 months, I feel that the visa officer would not have a bone to pick with them next time, even though they enter the US again in a week, which is allowed by 1-year M-entry visa.
Anyway, it is hard to know the logic of the visa officer...
