Question about length of stay in China between two entries for

My parents have visited the US twice and never extended their stay. They just got their B2 1-year M-entry visa from Beijing.

We plan to let them stay here for 5 months, then return to China and stay in China for a week, then come to the US again to stay for another 5 months.

1. Do you think if staying one week in China between the two trips would be too short to get another 6-month stay for their second entry?

2. Do you think if the visa officer would think that staying only one week in China between the two trips is similar to extending their stay?

3. I am not sure if the visa officers care about the length of stay in China between the two trips.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks a lot!
