Do I safe to use AP

In the past, I have a gray period:

My F1 expired on 05/14/04 and I apply for H4 on 05/10/04, then I get approved on 08/19/04. so from 05/14/04 to 05/10/04 is gray period for me.

Now, I want to use AP back to China. Can I caome back to USA safely?
