Not for I-94 approval, it's for H1b approval. The lower portion of H1b approval notice (I-797) is your new I-94. Make sure you don't have any gap between your current status and the start date of H1b. If you don't have enought time left, ask your H1b sponsor using H1b premier process. INS should response with 15 days.
