該不該出國

我33 歲，在北京，月薪6000 (IT)， 老婆在中學教書，月薪2500，已買房，兒子3歲，
我想去美國念博士，希望能以後找教職。我對研究比較感興趣。

我已考GRE，估計能申請到排名20-50的學校，正準備申請材料，但嶽父母比較反對
(剛開始沒有太反對)。

請過來人給些建議，還值不值得出國，在我這樣的年紀和情況下？
