security check

I would like to go back to China to celebrate Spring Festival with my family. I have filed I-140 and I-485. Both of them are pending now. If I go to Canada to apply for an H-1b visa, will they reject my application of H-1 visa just because I have applied for immigration?

Do they also do security check as they do it in China? What is the percentage on the applicants?

If they do security check on me, how long do I need to wait, still a couple of months, or a couple of weeks? Can I come back to the U.S. to wait for the result of security check?

My major is plant science. I don't think it is a sensitive major. Do you think if it still takes a risk for security check?
