I think you will be checked(75%) when applying for visa because you have filed for GC and your major is sensitive. As far as I know, this type of check will be hold for a year maxiam.

The risk is if your 140 is turned down or requested for additional materials while you are abroad waitinng for the CHECK, you might miss the time gap and lose your GC case.
