請教關於J-1簽證的結婚問題

本人是中國公民，在英國讀博，現在美做訪問學者。

欲與一持有美國綠卡的中國公民結婚，不知是否違反J-1簽證的有關規定；是否一定要申請其他簽證？

我擔心申請移民的時間太長，申請期間我不方便出入境。請問如何解決在J-1簽證到期後既能和老公共同生活，又能夠自由出入境的問題？
