J1 can be extended to a max of 3 years, but you must present and work or study for the J1 sponsor inside US. Same thing applies to H1.

Without waiver, you can't get H1 visa, maybe you can try F1 if you can be accepted by a school. It doesn't mean J1 can not chage to H1, it can but with a waiver since you have to show your J1 waiver approval notice when you apply for H1.

For B2, as I said, it's not easy for Chinese to apply. Even you get it, usually it only allows you to stay in US for 6 monthes. No matter you get marry or not, you have to leave. Then next time, you will not be qualified to B2 because immigration tendency.

Here are the legal choices you have :
1.Stay in US, get waiver, get H1b, get married then waiting for GC while you are in H1b;

2.Leave US, come to visit your boyfriend with B2 (hard to get) for a maximun of 6 monthes. If you are not married, then you leave in 6 monthes. Come again with B2 and leave again until forever. If you get married while you are in B2, you still have to leave. But you won't get B2 anymore, which means you are not able to come to US again untill you get GC.
This is one thing.
Another thing is:
Without waiver, you must stay in China for 2 years, no matter you get married or not, to be qualified to apply for GC, otherwise you won't get GC even you apply.

Got it? Either way is nightmare if you boyfriend doesn't want to be citizen. Or you can choose to stay in 2 countries for at least 5 years, 2 of which for you must be in China.
