I have been following spaceX for some time as I want to get in the pre-IPO shares (still waiting for it), but here is a real example of ridiculous regulation we have from government that slows down innovation
When SpaceX launches a new rocket, they have to get regulation approval from govrnment. One simulation test report they have been asked to submit is: "What if the rocket hits a shark"? SpaceX engineers found this a rather ridiculous request but still complied, did the simulation, and submitted report after 2 weeks.
Just when they thought that is it and permit should now be granted, they received the response from government and ask them to submit a new simulation test, and this time, the test is: "what if the rocket hits a whale"?
