有一種細菌， 叫C.difficile。 通常在醫院感染，為治療其他疾病而開的大劑量抗生素可能會引發這種疾病。抗生素經常破壞腸道中的“好細菌”，使C.difficile等壞細菌猖獗， 結果是反複拉肚子。目前的治療是抗生素。

MCRB開發的是口服益生菌，可以降低C.difficile反複發作。 4月26號FDA批準日
