Had to cut ceiling drywall to replace a very old ceiling fan

Patching the old drywall was very painful and time-consuming.
Next time, will cut a 2 ft x 2 ft opening and buy a new 2 ft x 2 ft drywall from Home Depot.
I believe that could save total time needed.
