把一個回帖提上來，關於事實婚姻

我們都知道事實婚姻的含義， 但在美國不是每個州都承認事實婚姻 （common law marriage）的。 我所在的Virginia 就不承認common law marriage.

Virginia does not recognize common law marriage¹²³⁴⁵. Couples cannot acquire marital rights and responsibilities by living together for a particular period of time². Any financial obligations or division of jointly owned property must be set out by express agreement and enforced through contract law¹. As of October 1, 2016, common law marriage is officially abolished in Virginia⁵. To be considered married in Virginia, a couple must obtain a marriage license and perform a ceremony conducted by a judge, a qualified minister, or any individual authorized by the court to do so⁴.
