作為對特朗普言論的回應，福特於周五上午在社交媒體上發布了裏根1987年電台講話的完整Youtube鏈接，其中裏根公開反對關稅，並討論了自由但公平貿易的重要性。

省長寫道：“加拿大和美國是朋友、鄰居和盟友。總統羅納德·裏根深知我們團結起來會更強大。願上帝保佑加拿大，願上帝保佑美國。”
