pc looks dead

I totally have no idea why it happened, please give me some advices.

Last Xmas time, I was using my pc (AMD xp2400, MSI mb), and suddently the cpu fan rans very very fast, I thought the cpu must very hot. And then the pc stoped working. I restarted it, it stalled as well. After a while when cpu was cool, I restart pc again, fan started running, but there was no beeps, the screen showed nothing. I tried lots of times, disconnected everything and ......tried lots of methods, but no beeps at all, pc looks dead. I thought it was either cpu or Motherboard problem. But I didnt know which one it was. Finally I upgraded them, I changed to P4 2.8 and D915psy motherboard.

I used the upgraded system for about a year. This Xmas, it happened again, the same phenomenon. I totally have no idea. When I start the pc, only fan is running, no beeps, no nothing. The cpu and MB have warrenty, I have contact Intel, but I need to wait.

My friend said it may be caused by the power (Antec 450w) in the winter (cold). But the power is not a cheap one, it was 85 Pounds.

Do you have any idea about this terrible thing? thanks
