It depends on what you are going to do with the uninstalled hard drive. if you are going to return it to the store, you definitely want to get rid of any personal information or stuff that are not supposed to be read or known by people other than you.

If you want to put the uninstallled hard disk into another PC of yours. It doesn't matter whether you remove the software or not.
