For the new disk you just bought, you have to format according to you file system.Otherwise you will not see it in the window explore.

few ways to do it:
1. Open dos window, and use fdisk to format your new disk.
or
2. right click MyComputer on desktop, on the drop dowm menu, click "manage". Then the computer management window is opened. click the "Disk Management" under "Stroage". then you can do the formatting.

you can open the Computer Management window though the "contraol pannel"-->"Adminstritive Tools"-->"Coomputer Management" as well.
