If you want to use software to convert miniDV to DVD, you need to have a PC with a firewire port (if you PC does not have one, you can buy a firewire PCI card to add such capacity to your PC), then you need some sofware such MyDVD or NeoDVD to capture your home video from miniDV to your PC harddrive in MPEG-2 format. Then you can use MyDVD or NeoDVD to edit and authorize the MPEG-2 files into a blank DVD disk. If you want to try software approach, you need a power PC with fast CPU, at least 1 GB memory and large harddrive.
