Windows XP can do this

1. List display all your files in Windows Explorer
2. Select all files or only those files you want to re-sequence.
3. Right click the first file in the selection. Make sure all other selected files are still selected (highlighted)
4. Select rename
5. Rename the first file such as MyFileName (1).jpg
6. Press Enter key.
7. All other selected files are now renamed as MyFileName (2).jpg, MyFileName (3).jpg, ....
