check your firewall setting.turn off the firewall first.

if the network adaptor driver is installed correctlly, you should get ip address. if not, check your network cable too.

windows xp can not auto install net driver for you.
but if you did not see the yellow ? in device manager, means driver installed.

use cable connect first, if cable connection works fine, means your windows has no problem. then you can try to setting the wireless later.
