【求教】請推薦文件備份軟件，謝謝！

準備買一個外置硬盤用於保存和備份一些重要文件及資料。直接存就行了，還是要用特別的軟件？象操作係統及一些應用軟件是否一定需要用特別的備份軟件才能實現？
