because you mentioned windows PC.
If we are talking about simple "hello world" like
command prompt executables, it'll run on most windows
as long as you copy them 16-bit to 16-bit system,
say, windows 3.* or 32bit to 32bit , say, windows 2000
to windows XP
If we are talking about the complete installed software
programs, then
1. For installed software package, simply copying
all program files from one to another PC, even though
both are same windows version , say, windows XP,
It won't likely work because you have to re-install
in the target PC to make sure registration config
is done by installation process.
2. It can stop working also because platform compatibility, even between windows NT and windows 2000
the compatibility issue may be raised, however, it's
not always the problem that depend on how the software
developers build the programs.
Generally speaking, even though simply copying may
work, it is not a suggested way to migrate software
from one windows PC to another.
The last point may be the true purpose of this question.
whatever
