technique. 比如：任何時候都可以改變分區，不會影響數據，甚至可以將不同硬盤上的sector收集起來形成一個volume. 另外一個很好的特性是dynamic disk可以做data stripping, 實現所謂的software raid.
However in MS Windows, only xp pro (2003 server also) supports this technique, not avaiable with xp home.
