Toshiba sucks.I get the same situation three ago. And I have to reqpire it every winter though it is easy to repire it.
If you are a DIYer, you can fix it in 15 minutes.
1, open the front cover of your display. (use screwdriver)
2. You can find a small narrow circuit board in the bottom of the LCD. that is the alternator for the backlight.
3. disconnect the connector of alternator to lcd backlight. and clean the connector.
4. put everything back.
5. that is it. nothing more. It works for me everytimes.
I guess toshiba uses cheap connector without gold coatting.
Another problem, I got cracks on my display backcover.
I replaced it once. But got the cracks on the new one again. Maybe their design is not good. Maybe they use cheap material.
I recommend you buy an IBM (for work) or sony (for personal use) one.
