i've had the same problem the first day i got my 8400--i deleted xp home, and when trying to install xp pro, i couldn't make sata hd recognized. i'm not sure if you're having the saming problem as i did, but you might want to try:
in bios settings, there should be a option for disk setting, there're a few different items you can select (4 on my machine), one is called something like "...combination..." you can try selecting that one, and trying install xp pro afterward. if not working, try each of the items under the disk option.
