Two possible reasons:
(1) NTFS partion. Linux can not access NTFS file system;
(2) SATA hard disk. This is the most possible reason. The installer kernel of SuSE Professional Linux 9.0 could NOT access SATA hard disk. You can rebuid installer kernel if you insist to use SuSE9.0. The simplest solution is: try SuSE 9.1 or 9.2.
Good luck. --Zeng
