How to install WinXP Pro

I might be just too slow on PC...I have WinXP Home Edition in my laptop, I intend to change it to WinXP Pro. How to install it? Just directly intall so it will overwrite the Home Edition? If so does it damage existing drivers? Thanks if you have done so and like to share with me...
