why is my hosts file always

why is my hosts file always deleted automatically by my computer? OS is XP pro SP2. I also tried to copy it to the folder, windows\system32\drivers\etc, for several times. It is usually gone in a minute or two. Spy sweeper did not find anything unusual. Thanks for your help in advance!
